Aston Martin DB11 Spied Running the Ring

Aston Martin has taken to the race track to test its latest car.

This car, which will likely be named the Aston Martin DB11, will replace the current DB9 in the company’s lineup and it will ride on an all-new lightweight platform. The platform will eventually underpin more Aston products and is part of the company’s commitment to replace its entire sports car lineup by 2020.

It appears that these new spy photos, shot on the Nürburgring and the surrounding roads, show a prototype of the new car, unlike previous spy shots which look like DB9-based test mules.

Power is expected to still come from a 6.0-liter V12, though an Mercedes-AMG built turbocharged V8 is also expected to be available, though it may not be until later in the car’s life cycle. Offering more engines should help the car appeal to a wider range of buyers, as Aston is currently on a mission to more than double its current sales.

Aston has already alluded to the car’s styling with the DB10, a vehicle that was designed for use in the latest James Bond film. Expect everything in the car to be brand new, including the interior electronics, suspension setup and overall electrical architecture, the latter of which is also coming from Mercedes-AMG.
